Usually depicted with a bow and arrows. Leto went into labor and wanted to give birth and said they would never be malnourished but delos was scared to have apollo birthed there. Leto goes into labour for 9 days, all major goddesses help except hera who is at home in olympus distracts eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth and that"s why labor is so long and painful. Iris is then sent to get eileithyia to help out. Often pictured in dress, hair up, bow on back, one arm up and hand facing upwards, and one arm down. She was depicted having wings, once loses wings, she then starts hunting. Niobe, queen of thebes and her (14) children- Said she was more worthy of honor than leto because she had 14 rather than 2 children and leto didn"t do anything while leto was a queen.
