Comm 101- introduction to the study of communication. Exam dates: monday september 26th from 1:00-1:50, wednesday november 2nd from 1:00-1:50, monday december 12 from 1:00-1:50. Verbal- involving words - nonverbal- actions not involving words. Everything we do and do not do is a message (anything can be a message) We all have wholes in our communication skills. Book by john mccain, story about being a prisoner of war, rule: no talking. Proves there is a need for communication (ex. People think they are better at communication than they actually are. The process of creating a meaning between two or more people ( tubbs, 2013, p. 9) (communication always involves 2 or more people) Of all the activities i devised to survive solitary confinement with my wits and strength intact, nothing was more beneficial then communicating with other prisoners. It was simply a matter of life or death.
