Lecture 9 and 10 - modularity of mind. The modularity of mind (mind is made of units and has a lot of bottom-up processing), is the most important discovery in cognitive science. Interesting case in support of bottom up processing: There is a perspective built into the window. When looking at the video tentatively, it appears as if the cylinder goes through the window. Our perception makes it seem as if it is a mask, but when it spins we can see that it is hollow (as soon as the image collapses and the exterior of the mask is shown) Real mask is on the left and a hollowed mask is on the right. There"s a crate of eggs to the left and as the light changes, we see the hollow/un-hollow mask reverse. What is the lesson about the above cases:
