Wanted greater political participation by american people. Long for the days before widespread industrialization. People producing more and more and getting paid less and less. Try to change the way the economy is evolving and the government with greater political participation. Marketplace dominated by one or a few powerful sellers who dictate prices. Marketed dominated by one or a few powerful buyers. Only have a couple buyers who would pay lower prices than maybe what is worth. Costs driven down for what their willing to pay the farmers. Money worth more, but goods and services cost the same. The gilded age: populism, birth of the party. Trying to educate farmers on the global system. Granger laws struck down by the supreme court. Granger laws= freight weight regulations for railway companies.
