Philosophy can be broken down into three major time periods. Ancient (before 100s ad: still worshipping zeus on the mountain- no foundation of theology, socrates. Did not write anything because even he admitted he did not know anything . Good at getting powerful people into a position that exposed the idea that their worldviews were flawed (possibly at dinner party type settings) Was so hated that he was tried and murdered: plato. Getting to the truth through question and answer. Wrote the apology and euthyphro (socrates was the main character in both. Consisted of the good, the true, the beautiful . Believed in reincarnation- the idea that our soul is attached to a corrupt body and we don"t learn we just remember things our soul has previously has experience with. The republic - what a good individual looks like and what a good city looks like. Each person is essentially rational, appetitive, and passionate.
