Pre-clovis becoming more accepted as authentic (more securely dated deposits) South america at least contemporaneous with clovis, maybe with pre-clovis. ~11. 3 kya (most species fall somewhere in this range) Domesticated plants or animals are biologically altered as a consequence of human agency. Analysis of plant and animal remains may indicate wild or domesticated products. A continuum of change makes classification difficult. Humans constitute a selective force: artificial selection. Domestication: genetic and physical change in characteristics. Very long period of time (human-plant interaction) Behaviroal changes from foragers to collectors (& to producers) Foragers: foodstuffs/material for immediate consumption; moving base camp from one resource zone to another; immediate returns. Collectors: move much less frequently; one or two base camps; delayed returns; greater processing; storage.
