Pumps 5+ quarts of blood each minute through four chanmbers. A chronic disease in which the arteries that supply the heart become narrowed or clogged. Chronic condition in which cholesterol and other fats are deposited to inner walls of the coronary arteries, reducing circulation to the heart. Plaque can break off and as arteries narrow can block blood supply because it gets stuck. Because of chronic cvd, elasticity of vessel wall has been damaged. Walls need to be able to dialate and constrict easily. Emboli - something breaks off and travels to smaller artery. If left untreated/unchecked can lead to mi. Permanent death of heart tissue in response to an interruption of blood supply. Arteries that go to brain and spinal cord.
