Live load: all actors who may come on and o stage, calculate ability of platform to resist three things, under given load conditions. Allowable bending and shear stresses: bending stress. A measurement of inner stress or stress in side the beam. Not a measurement of how much it actually bends: shear stress. Tendency of one part of the beam to slide past another: measured in psi, calculate using. Known total weight (dead load + max live load) De ection: a measurement of how much the beam is actually bending, standard maximum for acceptable de ection.
