Document Summary
Scenery attaches directly onto battens: lift lines. A network of beams supporting the elements of the counterweight system: loft block. Changes lift line in direction from vertical to horizontal. A series of them for each batten. Carries lift lines across the grid in the sl< >sr direction: head block. Changes lift line direction from horizontal to vertical. Directs lift lines down toward stage oor to attach arbor: purchase line. Rope which the yman pulls in order to operate y system. Usually 1-1/2 twisted rope or braided rope: rope lock & locking rail. Each line set has a clamp which locks down on the purchase line to prevent. Ring prevents lock from falling open unintentionally: arbor & counterweight. A moving carriage where counterweights, equal to the weight of the scenery, are held in a counterweight rigging system: block essentially means pulley. Single vs double purchase system: single purchase. Weight on batten equal to weight on arbor.
