● Temp, diversity of earth, community
Community:
● Ecosystem, all organisms that live together in a specific place on
earth
● Can be described by interaction on a food web
● 3 tiers
○ Primary Producers
■ Ex: Plants, algae
■ Drive the whole system, energy from the sun
(photosynthesis)
■ Hot temp and chemicals: Extremophile
○ Primary Consumers
■ Ex: herbivores, cows, snails
■ NOT a passive relationship

■ Primary consumers prey on primary producers
● Evolution will affect this relationship
○ Secondary Consumers
■ Ex: Carnivores
■ Pressure to be as efficient as possible
● At surviving, at eating, side-to-side competition
● Evolutionary arms race
○ Evolution → new traits, better protect self in pre/pred
■ Natural selection to preserve self
● Producers, Consumers, 2nd Consumers
● The complexity of these interactions + natural selection = more
diversity!
Global Circulation
● Physical earth affection organisms
● Temp variations and earth’s rotation govern circulation in the
atmosphere, axial tilt= seasons (type of environments)
○ Earth gets sun’s rays from either direct or indirect sunlight
○ Disequilibrium at poles and equator (concentrated sunlight)
