Introduction to the hero"s ordinary world: cinderella was once a cherished and pampered daughter by her father. When her father dies, she is left under the watch of a stepmother who treats cinderella like a servant. Call to adventure: cinderella"s family receives an invitation to a royal ball that is being held in order for the prince to find a wife. The stepmother makes a deal with cinderella that she is allowed to go to the ball if she finishes her lengthy list of chores. Refusal of the call to adventure: the stepmother interferes and refuses cinderella"s call to adventure by ruining cinderella"s dress and revokes her agreement to let. Meeting with the mentor: cinderella"s fairy godmother appears. Hero commits to leaving the ordinary world to enter a new world with unfamiliar rules or values: the fairy godmother urges cinderella to go to the ball. Cinderella claims that she doesn"t have an invitation, transportation, or anything to wear.
