Members of the italian resistance that really fought against the nazis and fascists of wwii. 1922 - 1945 : italy under fascist (dictator mussolini) 1940 : italy joined the war believing in a quick victory. July 10, 1943 : the allies land in sicily. Italy entered the war ill-equipped and a bad army = bad! Allies (america and the british) land in sicily and make their way up. North to liberate the rest of the south. September 8, 1942 : italy signs the armistice. For almost two years the north of italy is occupied by the nazis who are trying to support the fascist regime. Take the camera in the streets and start rolling there. Most of the film was shot on location. September 1943 - june 1944 : rome under german occupation. September - december 1944 : the script was written.
