We can selectively attend up to four personal constructs: physical construct, role construct, interaction construct, psychological construct. Determining factor is based on our cognitive complexity. Perceptual accuracy increases with greater use of constructs. People rely primarily on implicit personality theories to organize information about others. Implicit personality theories are a system of rules that tell us what characteristics go together traits are prioritized in terms of personal importance: certain traits are the ones we rely on the most. Interpretation is best reflected in our attributions for other people"s behaviors. Most of us engage in na ve psychology because we think we know people"s motives. We make either internal or external attributions: depends on three factors: consensus, consistency, and distinctiveness.
