BCS 110 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Patent Lens, Vise, Retina
Document Summary
Particles of energy (photons) - hits receptors, receptors response & waves. Color is perception: all we agree on; it"s not a physical property. Large amplitude = brighter, small amplitude = darker. The bigger the wave, the lighter it is. Light is changed by objects it encounters in its path: reflected (it doesn"t go around), refracted; diffracted and absorbed. Bottom - get bent up, top - get bent down. Back of your eye rotate 180 degrees. Your actual physical image is rotated in retina. Cornea: you can touch it, it"s the part of biological contacts lens. Go through the pupil, you see the black pupil. One-to-one correspondence b/w a point in space and a place on the retina. Lights up, hits bottom part of the retina. Lights down, top part of the retina. Light on the right goes left, vise versa. 180 degree rotations, but every point on the back of your eye knows where the light came from.
