Social phobia: exposure to feared social situations, public speaking, talking to strangers. Obsessive compulsive disorder: exposure to obsession without engaging in compulsion (exposure and ritual prevention) and think that something bad will happen if not performing ritual. Panic disorder: exposure to panic attacks, panic induced using hyperventilation, co2, injestion. Posttraumatic stress disorder: prolonged exposure; afraid of these memories, the memory itself is not dangerous but in ptsd (associated with such negative symptoms that it feels like it would harm you). Thinking about their memories, may be imaginal or written, involve visiting the site/exposure to cues. If behaviors are a function of their consequences then change the consequences change the behavior. Examine patterns of reinforcement (perhaps using the functional behavior analysis abc) Carefully determine the behaviors you want to reinforce, and develop new contingencies. Shaping: target behavior may be too complex, challenging, or novel for client to accomplish all at once. Aversion therapy: clinical use of punishment: undesired behaviors.
