Emperor puyi was instated as emperor (3 years old) Yuan shikai & other reformist officials were dismissed. Railway rights crisis - citizens thought that the foreign railroads should be given to china. A bomb the revolutionaries were building accidentally exploded. when qing officials went to investigate, the revolutionaries decided they might as well start the revolution. it was successful, and they drove all qing officials out of the city. More and more provinces declared their independence from qing. China becomes a republic, october 11th, 1911. In 1911, bogd khaan declared the independence of mongolia. In 1911, tibet also declared independence, & expelled chinese troops. Sun yat-sen & yuan shikai"s visions greatly conflicted.
