Peripheral route-person who receives the message is influenced by superficial cues of the speaker such as one liners,emotions, look of the speaker. Its effective if people do not have ability or motivation to understand the argument. The effect of this on behavior is short lived. Freedman and fraser- tendency to comply with a small request then later comply with a larger request.
