More rain on windward side of mountains where air is lifted up the slope. Condensation happens when moist air cools and this almost always due to rising motion. Changes that are expected: wet areas get wetter and more heavy rains. Hadley circulation: air rises above the warmest ocean surface (hot air rises) and sinks around 30 degrees latitude (where desserts are) Convergence zone: where winds come together . inter-tropical convergence zone which is the tropical band and follows the warmest ocean temperatures. Rain shifts northward in northern summer southward in southern summer. Monsson circulations: land heats up in the summer, leads to rising/rain. El nino, cycles greatly modify the location/intensity of monsoons. Mid latitude rainfall is associated with storm systems. Rising motion is generated in particular regions of the storm.
