Genital herpes is a chronic, lifelong viral infection. Hsv-2 antibodies are not routinely detected until puberty. Hsv-2 seroprevalence is higher in women than men in all age groups and varies by race/ethnicity. Most genital herpes are transmitted by people who are unaware or asymptomatic when transmission occur. Genital hpv is one of the most common stds. Causes 70% of cervical cancer and other cancers. Divided into two groups: low risk and high risk. Genital types have specific affinity for genital skin and mucosa. Hpv infection is transient and has no clinical manifestations. Most frequent cause of mouth and throat cancer. Aids is when cd4 cells is less than 200/microliter. Hiv type 2: main cause of hiv/aids in west africa/india. Integrate protein helps dna integrate into host cell genome. Rna ---> dna ---> rna ---> proteins (some are polyproteins) Surface proteins help decorate gp120, gp141, p24, p17. If you do not have this ccr5, unlikely to be infected.
