Abiotic: not associated with or derived from living organisms. Abiotic factors in an environment include such items as sunlight, temperature, wind patterns, and precipitation. An ecosystem is made up of a biotic community (all of the naturally occurring organisms within the system) together with the physical environment. The biotic factors in an environment include the organisms themselves as well as such items as predation, competition for food resources, and symbiotic relationships. How key resources for a particular organism influence its performance. A set of environmental conditions and availability of key resources, often biotic, that must be simultaneously satisfied for an organism to survive, grow and reproduce. Ex: 3d temp, salinity, ph: responses to temperature: 01. 11. 19 l4 page 2: responses to temperature: At higher temperatures enzyme activity increases and reactions occur more rapidly. Temperatures decrease and permeance decreases in cell membrane. Permeability is low and cell membranes stop functioning.
