Parable definition, comes from ancient greek meaning to throw beside or against, related word. Signifiers are abstract and otherwise difficult to communicate. Communicates in simple terms what can be profound. Everything is imaginable and easy to relate to: no supernatural elements or fantasy stylistic flourishes and would call attention to themselves as literary, conveys vivid pictures.
