See something in the world, then apply or develop theories, then we explain whatever it is we were trying to figure out. We can then apply this to other cases, aka generalizing. The student has to put it in their heads, the instructor can"t. Anything learned in the head is build on top of stuff already there. Brain takes a lot of energy to think hard. Humans short circuit and try to do things efficiently. Need to realize that some things require active thinking and using the brain without short circuiting. As humans we are craving that a-ha moment or the lightbulb going off. We love figuring things out which can be seen in people solving puzzles or playing mind games. "whole is greater than the sum of its parts"
