But they can become proficient in tech use now. Ppl born before age of digital media. Students of color rate being online more often than european. Those w/ low ses have limited access to internet, devices, etc. * gap between access to tech is decreasing. Fake news, distorted facts, misinformation, & lies. Sexual abuse & harassment, sexting, cyberbullying, hate groups & radicalization, social contagion. In - group & out - group bias. Intuition is easier than critical analysis (i. e. , deduction) 25% increase in us suicide rates in last 15 years. Largest increase among girls age 10 to 14. 2nd or 3rd leading cause of adolescent death. Best to directly ask about suicidal thoughts, wishes, plans, or self - harm.
