Document Summary
In the cuban missile crisis, dos was trying to negotiate with soviets. Dod was trying to figure out a military solution, but the two organizations were not always in contact with each other. States are supreme in matters of internal laws. Foreign powers don"t use force to affect policy. Makes states vulnerable to intl market fluctuations. With tech developments, trade happens faster and more often, which means states lose a degree of control over it. Many more points of entry are possible now. Vulnerable to public opinion when interacting with other states. This will make it difficult for states to make a hard-line policy decision if the public doesn"t approve. Sometimes they will not serve states" interests. If an igo passes something you don"t agree with, you can leave the igo but it will have implications. Supranational organizations may make you change laws. Having to obey laws from outside your own borders challenges national sovereignty.
