Document Summary

For a long time, there was debate about where human behavior actually originated. Even once it was accepted that brain was root of behavior there was no way to test it. Use observation to form arguments on how humans operate. Plato, wrote on ethics, political organization, and psychology, how humans perceived the world and the relation between our senses and our thoughts. Platonic realism - perception only detect small fraction of reality, we are limited in what we can know about the world through our senses: allegory of the cave explains the limit of our knowledge to our senses. Mind-body dualism: because thoughts are not physical and the body is, they must be independent of one another. The mind and body can influence each other. Mind is in control of body, body influences mind when people do things that are irrational (acting out of passion) Psychologist do not accept mind-body separation: mind is produced by body and not separate.
