Idiographic- seek to characterize the whole individual: nomothetic-seek to characterize differences between individuals. In other words, individuals stop someone"s train of thought when they interrupt it to insert their view, experience, and or outlook. There seems to be a trend of interruption with the purpose of guessing what the bottom line is. Such interruption with positive intent is synonymous with enthusiasm, but proves detrimental to abstract thought. However, on a less positive note, interjection into someone"s dialogue can occur due to insecurity.
