● Prolactin caused by breastfeeding has a feedback loop that shuts down LHRH
and therefore LH and FSH
○ Don’t get pregnant if nursing correctly (round the clock)
○ Sex drive decreases bc you have less estrogen

● Lions will kill other cubs so the mom won’t breastfeed anymore so estrogen and
progesterone can go back up so she will ovulate again

○ If females smell male, she will eat babies so she can be more receptive for
the better male
