Batesian mimicry - non toxic species evolves resemblance to toxic ones, gains protection from predators. Long thought that viceroys were batesian mimics of monarchs. Now considered mullerian mimics (two toxic species converge in phenotype) A species utilizes different niches at different life stages. Narrow diet of most species also increase niche space.
