Clicker question: animal models offer several advantages for the study of human brain disorders. They help us understand how the body functions and the pathology of diseases. They have also contributed to the common welfare. Polio vaccines: in the (cid:1005)9(cid:1009)(cid:1004)"s after studying the transmission of polio in monkeys, rats, and mice, a vaccine was developed and used to treat this disease in humans. Penicillin/antibiotics: in the (cid:1005)9(cid:1008)(cid:1004)"s a researcher injected mice with the bacteria that causes scarlet fever and tonsillitis. Sea slug (aplysia): one example of a valuable animal model because it has a relatively simple. A small group of these neurons respond to individual behavior making it easy to research biological aspects of learning and memory.
