Creon tells story of laius" death: all but one died going up to consult the oracle. Asks if anyone knows who the killer was, but no one answered. He curses the killer and himself: chorus suggests to call forth teresias, a prophet. Teresias answers in riddles: chorus wont believe until they are shown proof, creon enters, followed by oedipus.
