The ability for the university to function happens off of as cheap as possible (any employer in a capitalistic system will try to employ and keep wages down in order to run business/institution as cheaply as possible) Our law recognizes that that way of treating workers produces all kinds of detrimental effects for society and for individuals. We"ve never had an interpretation of the constitution or a law that says employers can do whatever they wish or have whatever types of employment policies they wish in order to maximize profit or efficiency of their corporation. Governments need to step in and protect the well-being of its citizens; basic underlying concept.
