TBZ; joined the gang when he was about 15
1982 went from middle school to high school; wanted to be a police
explorer
about a week or two went by, he caught his mom having an affair
didn’t hang around the crowd (a bunch of kids he knew since elementary
played pop warner football team)
played against different blocks (made another football team)
football team turned into a gang (has ties with Mexican Mafia)

you go to the gang and you tell them you want out; they will beat
your ass to get you out of the gang; if they don’t kill you you’re out
earning a veteran status (OG status); did his crime; represented in
prison; as time went on, he faded out of the gang

got tired of being a loser; lost his first wife
Homelife:
1st experience with police came at 5 years old
dad picked him up from summer school 55 chevy; he was in
kindergarten
hot summer day
pulled up to driveway in Huntington Park; taken out of the car at
gunpoint crying; police were there
his mom was not afraid of everything; knew her limits; she was a
chola
his dad sold drugs in the 70s; he retired from GM; sold illegal
fireworks
his mom sold lingerie; sold a bunch of stuff
he would go with his mom to all the drug dealings
His parents were good people (taught how to do everything); well
disciplined
there was that dark side
he was beat with belts
He hasn’t hit his kids with belts
he got yelled at a lot and he yells at his kids too
he never felt pressured to stay in the gang; it was his free will; he never
pressured anyone else
some people have gotten pressured into it; he was there since the
beginning (10-20 people)
homeboy = someone from his neighborhood who would have his back; he
has some sissy homeboys too
Homie = loose term
the gang culture was predominant in that area that he was from
he was raised in the 70s; a lot of baby sitters who were from rival gangs
