Lecture 13- food justice: article highlights the two tier minimal wage which is unjust because of its exploitation. Exposed to social vulnerability and violates their human rights: unjust employment practices are in violation of international law. Safe and healthy working conditions access to rest and leisure. Rest periods, limited working hours, paid vacations and recognized holidays. Considerations in scheduling: behind kitchen door. Adequate standard of living, human dignity for workers. Rights of family, housing, food, and health. Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. International convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination: side bar on tips and slave wages. U. s. tipping traces, willingness to continue exploiting newly free black laborers in the service economy. We built a legal system enabling that exploitation, and it impacts people today. Women and workers of color are largely concentrated at lowest paying jobs.
