Crime: risky lower but certain punishment (community service vs. prison, difficult security cameras; make yourself known to neighbors (community watch, inexcusable under neutralization theory offenders excuse their own actions. In simpler terms, it is a psychological method for people to turn off "inner protests" when they do, or are about to do something they themselves perceive as wrong by rationalizing. Plato socratic method; don"t define the concepts to be discussed, definitions and ideas slowly unfold in dialogue form as they are debated. State is superior to the individual and is virtuous. Aristotle - agreed with much of what plato had to say but favored an egalitarian system in which rulers are subservient to the law. He equated the concept of law with justice.
