Seeking help does not mean you"re unhealthy. Define goals and identify measurable ways of achieving them. Use this information to guide one"s thinking and actions. When emotions or irrational thoughts interfere with daily activities and rob us of our peace of mind. Anxiety is generally a normal and helpful emotion, but when levels of anxiety are no longer appropriate for the situation, distressing, or preventative in functioning it is problematic. Specific phobia - intense, irrational fear of a specific object or situation. Object or situation almost always provokes immediate fear/anxiety. Must be active avoidance or endurance with intense fear/anxiety. Distress/impairment in at least one area of functioning. Fear/anxiety about one or more social situations in which individual is exposed to scrutiny by others that almost always evoke fear/anxiety.
