Welcome to provide own interpretation, but if not persuasive enough, might get lower grade. Theme of the class=> in academic world, desire is loaded word. Usually comes from comparing with others- what others have and you don"t. Existence of desire is dependent on it not being fulfilled. Desire vs need=> desire is more irrational, need is more rational. The need for food is okay- it"s human nature. The desire for tasty food- is human desire, the source of evil. Sea of regret- affair btwn boy and girl and smth happened and they got separated. In chinese novels, beginning is most interesting, ending is most disappointing. Must have a happy ending- a grand reunion. If female protag is reincarnation, then everything is shaken.
