Permanent (gaining stream: water flows all year, at/ below water table. Groundwater will always fill the stream: humid or temperate, happen in wet climates. Lower evaporation: seasonal discharge, soil becomes saturated during a heavy rain. Flows to stream from groundwater (slower: *the amazon. The largest drainage basin in the world. Ephemeral (losing stream: do not flow all year, above the water table, dry climates. High evaporation: flow mostly during flash floods. Can occur after any major or prolonged rainfall: dry soil with little vegetation. Flow doesn"t lead anywhere and so it just dries up: okanvango africa. Can happen rapidly and mostly just in desserts. Occur most often in heavily urbanized areas: there is pavement everywhere, so the water just runs off because it has nowhere to go on the surface, can occur in moist environments when soils are too saturated. Car driving: 30 cm deep of water is dangerous for driving.
