Document Summary

Lecture 16: intelligence and special education (chapter 5) Comparison of person"s performance with that of others in same age group (norm referenced score) If you got a 100 on an iq test, it does not mean that you got a 100%. It just means that 100 indicates average performance of the similar group you are in. (most iq test has an average of 100 points; 15 points deviation) Compare your iq score to people of your age, culture. Example: if you are 21 years old, you score will be compared to 21 years, not 6 years old) Relationship between iq scores and achievement is not perfect. You know people who are probably really smart/ smarter than you but didn"t get into uci. You know people who aren"t as bright that did get into uci. Students in special education had a different classroom/education. Mainstreaming = tossing the kid into the real world. Educating students with special needs in the general classroom.
