Therefore, when there was widespread takings and occupations he felt very threatened. He was against the expropriation because he felt like this would create a feeling that it is okay to do so all over the country. He changes his mind because he is afraid of losing his support from the workers which is his biggest support. He may also be able to change his mind because we see factory workers in office. There is a scene in the book in which he is meeting with union leaders: what did the takeover of yarur mean to workers? (what differences of opinion exist?) [are there any parallels with scenes from batalla de chile?] Take over is about freedom and dreams coming true. The old timers are more fearful because of past failures.
