Any religion, or religious system, is comprised of 3 components: its worldview, its way of life, its definition of the community of the faithful. Ethics: its way of life and definition of virtue. It is the system"s stress on god"s concern for the group that marks the system as religious and not secular. Abraham, isaac, jacob are the ancestors and models of israel. An israel is comprised by a group of jews who take personally, as the account of who they are and of their group"s origins and meanings. To identify the forms through which that distinct group expresses its worldview: way of life/commandments. Group expresses its worldview in many concrete ways (music, dance, rituals, symbols) A religious system identifies an urgent and chronic question facing a given social group. The group persists and should continue to do so: despite all of the turmoil. Confusion of judaism as a religious tradition held by jews or an ethnic group or nationality.
