Savarkar and the indian war of independence of 1857 (iwi) Considered himself a revolutionary represents an early point for revolutionary thought. He is considered the political enemy in india. Wrote many books and many unpublished pages. Hindutva -- argument to create a hindu nation. Does not use his name, uses names such as maratha or nationalist. Became a political prisoner -- he wrote under a different name in order to avoid further punishment. One of the nine individuals arrested for gandhi"s murder. Gandhi was assassinated on january 30, 1948. Not enough evidence, so he is released. But association with this was enough to brand him as a enemy to the nation. Times of india - feb. 27, 1966: description of his life and work in the year of his death. He writes in a sense of urgency -- not meant to be well written and eloquent, made in a time of urgency. Gets scholarship to become a barrister in london.
