Yet, in america the devotion to it has been irrational -- americans, people like you and me, deal with locke with the same attitude we would view religious beliefs. It has not been recognized for what it is liberalism. If you were studying locke elsewhere you would view locke as rationalism and liberalism. We had only had the american way of life. Not only do we have an irrational view in his beliefs -- we don"t even know he exists. Doing things without knowing why he does them - what is happening with locke. People do not know locke existed yet they are extremely lockean. The idea of keeping the government Liberalism means having the people do the maximum without having the government or anyone interfere. It is that they have learned these principles differently -- in america.
