Age trajectories of creative output in different domains: Slow descent after optimum: early, high and narrow trajectory: Goal of everyday activities rapidly reaches satisfactory level. Invest in the beginning and then disengage --> automaticity. Expert performers counteract automaticity; they want more than that. Has stored experience of the actual outcomes of tens of thousands of situations. Forced to remember rules they no longer use. Best students and professionals practice the most hours of the week. With teachers and good students being the lowest respectively. Best students played more hours: took a nap in the early afternoon. It is the number of hours in the day to sustain full concentration and not just the number of hours played. Focus on overcoming weaknesses: sustained and deliberate practice/efforts can take anybody to expert level. Those at top of performance level, accumulated about 5000 solitary practice: not counting coaching and tournaments.
