Notes: epigenic view, development is the result of an ongoing, bidirectional interchange between heredity and the environment (both affect one another) Ex: heredity and environment operate together to produce a person"s intelligence, temperament, health, ability to pitch a baseball, ability to read, etc: gene x environment ( g x e ) interaction. Interaction of a specific measured variation in dna & a specific measured aspect of the environment. In simple words, both genes and environment (nature and nurture) work together to flourish our development. Page 58 for review on this section (1) prenatal development. It includes the creation of the zygote, cell division, and the attachment of the zygote to the uterine wall: about one week after conception, the differentiation of these cells specialization for different tasks has already begun.
