The scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Behavior : anything an organism does that is observable. Things that people do that others and can see. Mental processes : internal experiences that cannot be observed. A systematic method (carefully carried out) to observe, describe, and explain behavior. Theories are tested to make sure accurate (no matter how common sense or intuitive) Commonly use common sense to make a conclusion. Use it every day in all situations. Most thought that almost every time that someone would go out and help her. Common sense was wrong, only 40% would someone go out and help the woman in a group. If alone, almost 94% would go out to help the woman. Thinking in a scientific way, rely on evidence, and evaluate it in a systematic way, Look to see if any holes in their evidence, look for systematic ways of finding answers, asking questions.
