Autonomy- independence( behavior), autonomy has an emotional component were you feel how ever you want to fee and are detached from your parents. Autonomy and identify- identity is figuring out who you are which is after autonomy. Detachment- anna freud (1958)- believed that kids need to detach form parental objects detachment is not only inevitable but it is a necessary part of development. Detachment is a rejection of parents and rebellion against them. If adolescent does not detach they will not develop normally- for example, will not be able to place social energies in the correct place. 75% has not cut of parents- not a good theory. Individuation (blos)- realizing that you see you are individual and your parents too so they aren"t superhero"s anymore. Study that tested parents as people,nondependency, de-idealization, individuation. What triggers this process?- puberty and social cognitive development. Public distancing- when we are in public pretend you don"t know me.
