In vivo (inside of the body: delayed-type hypersensitivity: subcutaneous injection, look for a reaction after a few days, deliberate exposure (viral challenge) Exposed to a weakened, live, etc virus (e. g. vaccination, flu) and a blood sample is taken to see how the body responds to the exposure. Neurotransmitter and endocrine markers of stress: originally via blood and urine, but saliva testing is more common now, especially for cortisol, cotton swab in mouth for 1-3 minutes; may be flavored for children.
