Document Summary

Ex: rat gets food pellet after pressing lever for 10 minutes sometimes it can be 13, or 8 minutes but in time averages to: some effect of schedule of reinforcement. Continues reinforcement is easily extinguishing: because it"s obvious when reinforces stops, ex: going to the vending machine, pressing button prize. If you don"t get a prize, you stop trying to get food from that machine ever again. Classical conditioning or instrumental conditioning: classical conditioning starts with reflex response pairing it with a neutral stimulus. Instrumental conditioning where somebody emits a behavior and then it is rewarded or punished for it: ex: boy running away from spider. Reflux response (boys startled at sister scream) reflex gets paired with neutral stimulus (spider) just presenting spider = yell. Main claims of behaviorism reconsidered #1: behaviorists argued that classical and instrumental conditioning work for most species and content. 2: different animals are biologically predisposed to form associations between different types of stimuli.
