PSYCH 9B Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Classical Conditioning, Behaviorism, Starbucks
Document Summary
Week 1 tuesday learning: classical conditioning lecture 2. Learning: acquiring knowledge or skills through experience or instruction. Learning theory (behaviorisms: their main question was why do organisms (people and animals) behave the way they do, main claims of behaviorism. Same laws cover all organisms & all content. If you understand how learning works, learning works the same in all organisms: same principle of learning should explain how you acquire that knowledge. Learning is based on establishing associations between different stimuli and environment. Imperialism: everything you learn is based on what you are exposed on: ability to take info through your senses. Imperialist think it"s because of the environment: behaviorists were nurture, the environment determines what an animal/person becomes. Learning is gradual: repeated exposure to that stimuli over time, repeated associations between things in the environment that you can sense, we constantly ask each other why we do our behavior.
