Document Summary

My actions are mostly not under my control. A analogy sometimes used is that memory is like an enhanced video camera, that can record sight, sound, smell, taste, and feel, as well as emotions and thoughts. Rational thought is completely separate from thinking and emotion. Emotions and intuitions are bad habits that can interfere with good thinking. Emotions and intuitions provide useful shortcuts to careful thinking in many situations. Emotions, intuitions, and rational thought are inextricably intertwined. You are a senior manager (possibly even the owner) of a small to mid-sized company. Like most companies in america today, yours is faced with many challenges: customer interactions, product maintenance and development, advertising your products/services, cash flow and finances, human resources, making a profit, etc. It is clearly in your best interest to motivate your employees so that they will work hard, effectively, and creatively. It would also be nice if they enjoyed their jobs and were happy.
